College of Business and Trade (CBT) was founded in December of 2014. With 915 full-time students it offers six undergraduate programs: International Economy and Trade, Accounting, Marketing, E-commerce, Law, Intellectual Property. The college undertakes not only professional teachings but also the Ideological and Political Theory teaching for all the students of Liaoyang campus.

CBT has a staff of 51 teachers and seven departments including International Economy and Trade, Accounting, Marketing, E-commerce, Law, Ideological and Political Education and Practical Teaching Center. Of 61 faculty members 23 are professors and associate professors and 37 are lecturers, 59 with doctor degrees or master degrees. The college also has 21 part-time teachers.

CBT attaches great importance to the mutual promotion between teaching and research encouraging teachers to carry out educational teaching and scientific research on the development of regional economy. In the past two years, five projects have received funding supports from the Social Sciences Planning Fund of Liaoning, two from the Education Department of Liaoning, two from the Social Sciences Association of Liaoning, one from the Legislative Affairs Office of the provincial government, one from the Theoretical Research Society of Liaoning People's Congress, one from the Provincial Committee of Higher Education, three from the Education Science of Liaoning in the 12th Five-year Plan, one from the Education Assessment Association of Liaoning, one from the Central Committee of the Youth League, and seven from Liaoyang for philosophy and social sciences. In addition, 44 academic papers have been published, of which two were included in CSSCI, one in the Copy Edition of Renmin University of China, 17 in core journals. The students have ever had four academic papers published as the first author. Moreover, the teachers took four  First Prize, three Second Prize and two Third Prize for Excellent Accomplishments in the 15th Liaoyang Philosophy and Social Sciences. 11 advisory reports on “Four Liaoyang Constructions” have been issued in Liaoyang Daily. The teachers have had one academic work and three textbooks published either by taking charge of or taking part in compiling. Three young teachers have won Third Prize in the Teaching Contest at the provincial level.

CBT lays emphasis on the cultivation of students' practical ability, innovative spirit and entrepreneurial capability. The initial outcomes have been achieved both in constructing training bases and in developing students’ innovation ability. The college is currently equipped with several practical teaching sites such as an ERP sand table imitation lab and a manual accounting lab. A virtual simulation center financed by central and local funds is under construction. Six professional clubs have been set up by which professional teachers as well as the College Youth League can guide students’ professional practice. Over two years, the college has established some training bases for a wide range of practice activities, together with Liaoning Xinglong Happy Family Business Group, Shenyang Little Bee Accounting Co. Ltd, Liaoyang Branch of China Construction Bank, Liaoning Shengshengtang Medicine Chain Co. Ltd, the People's Court of Hongwei District, the People's Procuratorate of Hongwei District, the Justice Department of Hongwei District. CBT encourages and organizes both teachers and students to sign up for various kinds of innovation contests. The numerous awards acquired include one Second Prize and one Excellent Tutor in the Ninth National College Students' Network Business Innovation Application Contest; one First Prize and two Second Prize in Liaoning College Students' Network Business Innovation Application Contest; five First Prize, 16 Second Prize, 28 Third Prize, seven Honorable Prize, four Excellent Tutor, one Excellent Organization Individual, and one Excellent Organization Group in Liaoning College Students' Smart Economy Innovation Contest; three Second Prize in Liaoning Finals of the “Seendao Cup” National College Students’ Startup Management Sand Table Simulation Contest; one First Prize, two Second Prize and five Third Prize in Liaoning Challenge Cup; one Best Style and one Best Organization in Liaoning Mock Court Contest; and the title of “National Top 100 Clubs” to the ERP Club by Seendao Science and Technology.

CBT pays attention to the characteristics in training application-oriented talents, defining the goal of Eight Ones, “read a good book, write a good hand, practice good eloquence, write a good official document, make a good plan, foster a good strength, use a good software, and shape a good mind”, which is promoted and implemented by professional teachers and instructors. The college adheres to the construction of study atmosphere as the main line, actively joining in the campaigns of Excellent Study Atmosphere Class and Excellent Study Atmosphere Dorm. In two years’ time, 21 classes have been awarded Excellent Study Atmosphere Class, accounting for 65.6 % of the campus total, and 19 dorms awarded Excellent Study Atmosphere Dorm, and one class entitled Excellent Study Atmosphere Extraordinary Progress Class. The college positively builds the bridge between employers and students and strengthens employment guidance coupled with professional teachers and instructors broadening employment channels. “Liaoyang Campus Job Fair for Economy-Management-Law Graduates” held every year greatly contributes to the steady improvements in the employment rate as well as in the quality of employment.

CBT focuses on orientation guidance and strives to build the brand of cultural construction, clarifying the development direction of “enhancing connotation, condensing features” and the working concept of “step by step”. In these two years, the college has played an essential role in thought leading and personnel cohering by organizing to edit and release 50 electronic issues of Business Garden, holding 12 lectures of “Business Forum”, and choosing five teachers as “Business Elite”.

In the future, CBT will continue to insist on the socialist core values as the guideline, the cultivation of applied talents as the center, the construction of the teaching staff as the priority and the creation of study atmosphere as the main line. CBT will continually improve the teaching quality particularly in such fields as business and law and make unremitting efforts to train applied talents urgently demanded by the society by furthering the cooperation between the college and enterprises, serving the local economic and social development, laying a solid foundation and highlighting distinct features.
